If not very careful, the author of a fable risked fueling a blazing pyre in a public square. Thus, creating a safer means of communication, by any stretch of the imagination, became a necessity in order to escape the claws of censorship. In so doing, history was filled with tortuous lies to mask the facts deemed unbearable at face value. After six centuries of Inquisition, it became crucial to sieve through the facts, as they are known today, to unearth the truth and to restore their true meaning. But some myths are so deeply entrenched in the collective memory that even the truth needs to be corroborated, most particularly relative to the lives of the characters mentioned earlier in this book.
